Good news for those interested in joining the ranks of New York City’s bravest: THOMAS GALVIN, FDNY’s chief of training, education and curriculum development announced that the department is taking applications through Oct. 13 for its next firefighter exam. Applicants must be between the ages of 17 and a half to 29; the opportunity for the public to apply occurs only every three to four years. Visit www.nyc.gov/fdny to download an application form and peruse a list of frequently asked questions. One interesting fact: you must be at least 21 years old to serve as a New York City firefighter.
