Don’t miss Heights resident AMITY SHLAES at the Brownstone Republican Club tonight at 6:30. Kicking off the Club’s fall season, the author and columnist will give a lecture titled “The Chicken versus the Eagle: How Brooklyn Struck the Decisive Blow for Free Enterprise During the New Deal.” It is taken from her upcoming history of the Great Depression.
A mother to four children, she is the author of The Greedy Hand and a columnist at Bloomberg News. Her husband is Brooklyn native Seth Lipsky, president and editor in chief of the New York Sun. Past guest speakers at the Club include Theodore Roosevelt IV, then-mayoral candidate Michael Bloomberg and Emily Pataki.
