KATE HEIBERG, the new Development and Communications Associate at the Brooklyn Historical Society (BHS), announces that BHS will be kicking off its 2006-2007 season on Nov. 1.
The free event, from 6-8 p.m., will feature the opening of the exhibit Public Perspectives, the first in a series that will showcase the work of community-based organizations and artists. Also opening that evening is It Happened in Brooklyn, selections from the BHS’s permanent collection that tells the story of our borough through the eyes of a diverse range of residents.
Eagle reporters recently caught up with DEBORAH SCHWARTZ, now BHS’s president. Securing funding has been one of Schwartz’s successes; since June of 2006, BHS was awarded four significant grants to help care for their existing collection and provide better services.
