If you are craving Latino cuisine or culture, Brooklyn writer CAROLINA GONZALEZ has created the perfect guidebook for you. She and journalist Seth Kugel wrote Nueva York: The Complete Guide to Latino Life in the Five Boroughs, released this month by St. Martin’s Griffin. The 240-page guide covers everything from the food vendors at the Red Hook ballfields to the merengue scene at East Elmhurst’s Kana Lounge to the best Argentine restaurant in Midtown. Gonzalez, a former reporter and editorial board member on the staff of the Daily News, is a longtime Prospect Heights resident. And as they say, whether you are a regular old New Yorker who can tell a bodega from a Korean deli, but not the yautía from the yucca on the bodega’s shelves, or simply a Latinophile, Nueva York has a tip for you.
