UNION ATLANTIC, BY BROOKLYN’S ADAM HASLETT, was officially published today. The much-buzzed about debut novel follows Haslett’s Pulitzer Prize-nominated short story collection, You Are Not a Stranger Here. Published by Talese/Doubleday, Union Atlantic portrays a patchwork of interconnected characters, including banker Doug Fanning, a figure of wealth and indulgence in a precarious financial atmosphere, and his neighbor Charlotte Graves, an aging history teacher at odds with Fanning’s lifestyle. Called “the first great novel about the economic collapse” by GQ’s Laurence Lowe, Union Atlantic has garnered praise from press far and wide. Yesterday, Blackbook published an interview with the author.
As Haslett’s book tour gets underway, catch him at a reading in his home borough this Friday, Feb. 12, at BookCourt.
