The Scottsboro Boys, with music and lyrics by JOHN KANDER and the late FRED EBB, respectively, opens tonight at the Vineyard Theater.

Kander was honored this past Monday at Vineyard’s Annual Gala at Hudson Theater. The celebration, hosted by DAVID HYDE PIERCE, featured appearances and performances by CHITA RIVERA, LIZA MINNELLI, HEIDI BLICKENSTAFF, MARIO CANTONE, KRISTIN CHENOWETH, JASON DANIELEY, NORM LEWIS, DEBRA MONK, JULIA MURNEY, SUSAN STROMAN, KAREN ZIEMBA, THE CAST OF THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS and others.

Kander, who began his career in 1957, has penned the music for such shows as CabaretChicago, Kiss of the Spider Woman, and, most recently, The Scottsboro Boys, about the famous Scottsboro case which sparked the American Civil Rights Movement.
